Bantwal, Mar 6: Guests at a wedding at B C Road here on Thursday March 5, were in for a shock. Even as the nuptials were going on, the bride chose to proclaim her love for a man other than the groom who was waiting to exchange garlands with her!

In a bizarre twist, the bride Bhavya disclosed that she was instead in love with the wedding photographer Preetam Bollandur!

Bhavya is the daughter of Nonayya Moolya, a resident of Surikumer and Preetam is a resident of Puttur.

On Thursday Bhavya was to marry Srinivas, a resident of Madantyar, while her brother Nagesh, was to wed Poornima from Kulur in Mangalore at Rangoli Auditorium. Both marriages were to be solemnized at 11.13 am.

The marriage of Nagesh and Poornima went off smoothly but when it was Bhavya’s turn to garland Srinivas, she instead grabbed Preetham and declared that she did not want to marry the former.

Chaos and confusion prevailed as some of Bhavya’s relatives tried to beat up Preetam. Eventually, he was taken to the police-station where he denied having proposed to Bhavya when questioned by circle inspector Nanjude Gowda and zilla panchayat member Tungappa Bangera.

However, Bhavya stuck to her claim and said that the duo had been involved in a relationship for a long time now. She insisted that she would marry only Preetam.

The police had a hard time controlling the crowd that had gathered to watch the events unfold at the police station.

With town sub inspector Madhavkoodlu, municipal member Devdas Shetty, Machendranath, Parameshwar, and others mediating between the families of Bhavya and Preetam, the two were married at Sri Chandikeshwari Temple here in the presence of policemen!

We do not yet know if it is a happy marriage or a sad one. Coz Bhavya was the one adamant about marrying Preetham and preetham the great had initially denied it. All we know is Bhavya is one hell of a strong woman to do what she did if she really loved Preetham or who knows if there is some other story behind her decision and Preetham couldnt help it.

Women are becoming stronger by the day and men weaker. If he denied it shows how much he loves her and how strong he is. so the problems might start now...heheheeh....Pyar kiya tho darna kya mere bhai....hehehehe...nevertheless all the best to this couple..

It doesn’t matter where marriages are made in - heaven or hell, but make it Heavenly. Cheers to Bhavya.

Mr.Devdas, Mangalore, I have read your comments. Your comments are constructive and true too, I accept it. There is no doubt that marriages are decided in Heaven itself. We have seen many incidents in the society where marriage will break up at the last moment and bride or groom will marry others. Also, there are many incidents where in spite of heavy opposition either by the parents or by the society or by the caste system, many boys and girls have married their own choice (love marriage).

This is because their marriages are made in heaven (pre-determined in Heaven). It's Vidhi Likhitham. No one can change it. If a marriage is not performed successfully, then it means that they are not made for each other. In that case they will have some other person to get marry in their life time and it will be for better too. This is also Vidhi Likhitham. Everything is depends on God’s wish. It’s well said in Sanskrit that “Tena Viva Trunamapi Na Chalati”, it means, “without the wish of God, a single grass also will not move”. We human beings are on this earth for a short duration, say max of 100 years.

But, this 100 years is too short period for a person to achieve his / her dream goals or objectives, also to do some good works for the society. Hence, all should live on this Earth with harmony, peace, equality, and respect each other. This is LIFE.

It appears to be a bold decision by Bhavya to marry her love. It has saved Srinivas from future problems and given Preetham his secret lover (whom at first he rejected "Eventually, he was taken to the police-station where he denied having proposed to Bhavya when questioned by circle inspector"). Ultimately the Parents have to face the humiliation.

Agree that parents should do a thorough survey before arranging marriage of their children, but what about now-a-days children who feel it not the business of their parents to interfere. The girl could have confessed to her parents which could have saved the humiliation to the parents as well as the groom too. Modern generation is fast loosing family values and have no respect to parents.

If they really love their parents, they would not be causing so much agony and humiliation to them, God Bless the Young Generation...

It looks like Preetam is not very amused from his looks. It should not turn out to be a forced marriage of one sided love of Bhavya. Any way let us wish them better understanding of each other and a happy married life.

Marriages are decided in heaven. But, it will happen on earth. Everything is "Vidhi Likitham", predetermined. It may be marriage, house, business, education, job, relationships, life, etc. We wish good luck for the new couple. May God bless them with prosperity. "Shubhamasthu".

Happy ending for the bride... please think about the groom and the embarassment he has to face. However, the silver lining is - he need not be the husband of someone whose heart was beating for someone other than the husband. Think of the groom.

Really a good news and also hats off to Bhavya for her fine decision against the parents force . They seem to set a good example for all the parents who decide their childrens marriage among themselves. I wish the couple a very happy married life and have a bright future. May god bless them both.

Why create a scene? If she was in love with somebody else she should have disclosed it well beforehand of the marriage. She should have thought what will go through her parents and the groom's parents and above all the groom. He has to face embarrassment for no fault of his.
