Mangaluru Mar 31: “BJP has repeatedly blaming that the state government delayed land acquisition and thereby halted development works of Mangaluru -Bengaluru highway. I will retire from active politics if the allegations are true,” said former minister and senior Congress leader Ramanath Rai on Sunday, March 31.

He was speaking after inaugurating the Congress election office at Bendoorwell.

“NDA came to power by making false promises in the manifesto. Modi had promised to give employment for youth but he is asking them to work as pakoda sellers. Demonetisation was intended to bring back black money which is also proved now that it was a false promise. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is Chowkidar of investors, Ambani and other businessmen of the country,” he alleged.

Congress MP candidate Mithun Rai said, “The war has begun. This war is between Dharma and Adharma, complete development and zero development, misinterpretation and truth. April 1 will be a black day for all of us as Vijaya Bank is going to merge with Bank of Baroda. If I come to power I will make sure that Vijaya Bank will restart its service yet again,”

Priest of Bolar Temple Guruprasad, Khatib of Kankanady Masjid Abdul Rehman Sahadi, parish priest of Rosario Church Fr J B Crasta blessed the Congress election office.

District Congress president Harish Kumar, former MLAs J R Lobo, Mohiuddin Bava and others were present.

Indeed Vijaya Bank is a pride for Bunts and people of Mangalore.

Congress Nationalised the Vijaya Bank and snatched it away from us. Tell me do Bunts have any job reservation in Vijaya Bank? After Nationalisation how many Bunts have become Chairman of the Bank.?

The Bank branches are now full of people who cant utter a single word of Kannada, let alone Tulu.

We have lost our Banks long ago, why cry now?

I am glad that after merging Vijaya Bank with some reputed Banks the standard will go high and the employees will know their responsibilities. Vijaya Bank was one of low standard banks with unprofessional employees. All those people that are against the merging of these banks need to first open their account in V bank and experience the service they provide. How many of us here have an account with Vijaya Bank? when we did not support the bank then why to cry foul over the merging now?

Before 'Gujarat Model' was even evolved, our proud Karnataka is way ahead in Banking sectors. The state of Karnataka, particularly the region comprising the coastal districts of Dakshina Kannada and Udupi, is called the cradle of banking in India. This is because seven of the country's leading banks, Canara Bank, Syndicate Bank, Corporation Bank, Vijaya Bank, Karnataka Bank, Vysya Bank and the State Bank of Mysore originated from this state. The first five in the above list of banks were established in the districts of Udupi and Dakshina Kannada.

Perhaps all over the world Aril 1st, is marked as 'Fools Day'. But PM Modi's BJP government failed economic policies, Demonetisation after effect, loan wavier for crony capitalist to the BJP fundraisers fooled Tulu Nadu merging the 'Vijaya Bank' serving the nation for 88 years with loss-making banks of North India.

Vijaya Bank- Net profit rose 80.22% to Rs 143.38 crore in the quarter ended December 2018 as against Rs 79.56 crore during the previous quarter ended December 2017. Total Operating Income rose 22.75% to Rs 3848.44 crore in the quarter ended December 2018 as against Rs 3135.23 crore during the previous quarter ended December 2017.

Dena Bank- For the financial year 2017-18, the bank has posted a net loss of Rs 1,923.15 crore. In absolute terms, net NPAs stood at Rs 6,142.47 crore by the end of third quarter 2018-19 as against Rs 7,564.20 crore a year ago.

Bank of Baroda- The lender’s net loss stood at Rs 3,102 crore compared to a profit of Rs 154.72 crore a year ago. Provisions for bad loans surged nearly threefold to Rs 7,052.5 crore from Rs 2,425 crore a year ago.

Vijaya Bank was established by AB Shetty in 1931 touched the hearts of the people of the region by giving jobs and low-cost loans to locals. They continue to have strong social ties and memories with Vijaya Bank leading to protests over its loss of identity.

Thanks to Modiji & BJP, Shetty’s Vijaya Bank is 'No More' and now history.

Vijaya Bank, Corporation Bank, Syndicate Bank & Canara Banks are Pride of our Tulu & Konkani Culture. Mithun Rai and other local Leaders should withdrow all funds from Bank of Baroda and start new Kudla Vijaya Bank on coming Vijayadashmi day and promise and estabilish one Kudla Vijaya Bank branch for each Village & town in Mangalore, Udupi & Chickmangalore district headed by local youth, bycot all None Mangalorian Banks.

I had the similar opinion. The coastal DK/Udupi belt should start a new bank. As the name Vijaya Bank is not existed even while Vijaya bank is merged with Bank of Boroda, the entreprenuers from DK/Udupi can start a new bank on the same name or similar name, if unable to obtain licence on same name. Definitely, majority of coastal DK/Udupi will support.

this is my Bank and started by my community to help the community- a private bank

WHERE WERE THESE GUYS WHEN MRS INDIRA GANDHI NATIONALISED THEM AND DESTROYED ITS FABRIC AND LOOTED IT?? I KNOW MITHUN WAS NOT BORN BUT HIS PARTY WENT ALONG
When Mr. Poojary personally watched over its downfall by appointing an inefficient chairman to help with the inefficiency. (because it belonged to the Bunts)Petty politics

The name means a lot to me -but its a worldwide phenomenon of mergers- in capitalistic societies banks are all private - ALL OF THEM. America does not own a single Bank - Its all owned by shareholders. That is what makes them efficient

I was told by a Haji Mohideen Kunhi at a celebration of Vijaya Bank -that is his Banker and he gave a beautiful speech on how they were the only bank that helped him build his business. SO NOW its everyone's Bank.

Yes we have emotional attachment with Vijaya Bank, but in the interest of public it is always better to merge Public sector Banks. People are more educated to know , nothing happens to their bank account. As a staunch BJP supporter.....that was long ago when vajpayejee my greatest leader was PM.
I am not a supporter of congress or JDS, however I have taken a neutral stance this time.

What Mithun was doing or did was a master stroke!!!, he involved different communities in his electoral initiative, involving different dharma people, which is what is our true Hindustan is all about.

We cannot be like Pakistanis who call their country Islamic only, nowhere minorities there feature.
In India its a big garden with different people of all hues and colours and dharmas. This is what I am proud of. If you read Gita, quran & Bible...…...message is same...…...god is one and no difference.

Its only our politicians create all the differences for votes, which most educated people fail to grasp this nautanki, fall prey to politicians. lets wake up and support any party that drives growth, jobs to our youth and keeps communal harmony. lets not forget by supporting a communal and divisive party we end up committing negative karma, for which we have to pay a price.

People of mangalore are smart ,As Mr Mittun does such gimmicks 10000votes will be added to Mr Nalin & atleast this Mr Mithun will loose eclection with minimum margin Of 2 lac votes.First let this person (Mr Mithun)sort out his 18-20 cases on him before pointing fingers to others. Specially in mangalore as they try to show
People of all caste in one place they will loose votes .At the end Mr Mithun will say like Mr jR Lobo that something has gone wrong With EVM.
