Bengaluru, Apr 1: A Bengaluru woman, who complained of sexual harassment from a Swiggy delivery boy, was shocked when the food delivery app management tried to compensate her with Rs 200 and a ‘sorry’ note.

The woman took to Facebook to narrate the ordeal she faced. The Swiggy delivery boy, who turned up at her door step with the food packet, allegedly asked sexual favours from the woman.

“I was taken aback... had to literally snatch my food package from him and shut my door on his face. I was... disgusted to let alone eat, but to even look at the food...(sic),” she said in a Facebook post.

The woman decided to lodge her grievance with Swiggy, only to be responded with a ‘sorry’ and Rs 200 coupon.

Swiggy after receiving backlash on social media, apologised to the woman on Facebook and assured action.

“Customer safety is of utmost importance to us at Swiggy, and we maintain zero tolerance towards any misbehavior. Since this misunderstanding between the customer and delivery executive came to our notice, we have been in touch with the customer constantly. We have extended our full support to the investigation and the matter has been resolved with all parties involved. Swiggy is committed to bringing in the necessary confidence and control in providing great consumer experience,” a spokesperson of the food delivery app assured.

There should be a very strict investigation on this issue. If it is taken lightly, there could be many more such incidences coming to light. The arguments over exact return change, arguments on delayed delivery, refusal of sexual favours by the delivery boy......all these might change into 'sexual harassment by the delivery boy'!!!!

The last comment from swiggy speaking about customer safety, top priority and all is a standard dialogue. Instead swiggy should behave like a true corporate and initiate proper action.

An apology note and the 200 rupees is like a tight slap on the victim like saying who cares. Swiggy you better grow up and get serious.

Note the contents of press release "Swiggy is committed to bringing in the necessary confidence and control in providing great consumer experience". May be this misbehavior from delivery boy too may be a part of providing great customer experience....!
