Kundapur, Apr 1: The family of the techie couple from Basrur who were stabbed in Munich will soon be flying to Germany, thanks to the timely intervenion of former MP Jayaprakash Hegde.

Prashant and his wife Smitha were stabbed by an immigrant in Munich on March 29. While Smitha’s condition is stable, Prashanth succumbed to the injuries. However, family members in their hometown here could not fly to Germany immediately as they faced technical difficulties with regard to passport, insurance and paperworks.

It is here the former MP stepped in and asked the family members to come to Bengaluru. The family reached Bengaluru on Monday and Hegde accompanied them to the passport office. He spoke to senior officers and requested them to give the needed paperwork on priority.

As soon as the incident came to light, Hegde informed external affairs minister Sushma Swaraj and also requested the ministry of external affairs officers to help the family. He also took care of the email communications with ministry as well as with Sushma Swaraj.

The ministry appointed senior officer Ambika as communication officer to handle the case and assist the family.

Hegde also asked the family to directly contact him on his cell phone for any further help.

Prashant’s mother Vinaya, Smitha’s parents Dr Chandramouli and Vidya and Prashant’s family friend from Germany Ganesh flew to Germany on Monday.

Prashant’s sisters husband Srinivas, who works in Syndicate Bank told media that the family is in shock after the unexpected incident. He demanded a thorough investigation in the case and the reason on why a peace loving person like Prashant was brutally killed.

He asked the ministry of external affairs to put pressure on the authorities for a speedy investigation and also thanked Jayaprakash Hegde for assisting the family in their time of grief.

Kudos to J P Hegde in expediting the travel of the families of Late Prashant Basrur to Germany. He did a great job by requesting the external affairs minister Sushma Swaraj and her staff to handle the processing of visas, passport and other documents required to travel to Germany at the earliest.

JP hegde is a simple cool man .
He did a big mistake because of small conflict with Oscar Fernandes he quit Congress & Joined BJP which was not a good decision he made .Everyone knew Oscar is a dummy .. Mr. hedge should have joined BJP. He could have stood as a independent candidate still he would have won.
BJP sidelined him & kept him far ..But he still didn't stop his social work. If not for party he does this for his own because he is straight decent clean politician
BJP could have given him a MP ticket & kicked SHobha out .
Good Job done by JP hegde to help the Family .
    God bless you Sir

    RIP to the departed soul.
All Indians must learn a lesson from this incident. All over the world, there is intolerance against immigrants. So better live in your own country.
It is true that in our country, the standard of living is not as good compared to many western countries because of the corrupt administration. But I hope it is better to live in substandard conditions, that lose your life, just because you are an immigrant.
