Bantwal, Apr 2: “BJP is trying to fool people only through slogans. Though it says that only development is their goal, it has not done any development in Dakshina Kannada district though it has BJP MP since 1991 in Mangaluru Lok Sabha constituency,” alleged KPCC secretary Ashwani Kumar Rai.
He was speaking in the news conference called in Hotel Srinivas in B C Road on Monday.” It cheated the people in the country that it will bring black money and credit the amount in everybody’s bank account. It has not properly implemented GST and note ban after it came to power. Prices of petrol and diesel are not reduced. Jobs are not created. It has come to power only through publicity and it is there only to shout slogans,” he said.
Mithun is a good candidate
“Congress high command has selected a good candidate for Mangaluru Lok sabha constituency. Mithun Rai is young and has leadership qualities since childhood. Though the party usually does not pick young people, it has brought about a change. We welcome the move. All the activists and leaders of the constituency are together helping him to win.”
Opposition to Vijaya Bank merger
“Merger of the bank born in our district to the bank having Gujarat name is not fair. We do not have difficulty of its merger with local bank. Merger of the bank of our home town with the bank which is at loss has made us sad. Congress had introduced Aadhaar card. But it is not being utilized properly,” he said.
Setback in development
“The work on Pumpwell flyover circle and B C Road Addahole road has stopped half way. It is a failure of local MP Nalin Kumar Kateel. There was global recession during UPA rule. But there was no impact in the country and no bank was closed. But financial difficulties now are covered by merger of banks,” he said.
Block Congress former president Nonayya Poojary, Jayaram Namani, municipal council member Mohammed Sharif, former gram panchayat president Ummar, youth Congress former president Steven D’Souza, gram panchayat former member Gopalakrishna Suvarna, Iqbal Farangipete, gram panchayat former member Hamza, Karim Bollayi, Balachandra Shetty and Sridhar Ameen were present.
