Chikkaballapur, Apr 2: Congress MLA representing Chikkaballapur constituency, K Sudhakar, sprang a surprise by suddenly praising BJP and predicting victory of BJP candidate in Bengaluru (south) constituency.

Addressing an election meeting in Mandikallu revenue division where he sought votes for Congress candidate, M Veerappa Moily, Sudhakar mentioned that BJP has allotted ticket from Bengaluru (south) constituency to a young man. "I should not be saying this. However, I can say for certain that Tejasvi Surya will become victorious from there. But his victory will not be on his individual capability. Whoever is fielded in that constituency on behalf of BJP wins because of the prominence of that party in that constituency," he added.

Speaking at Bagepalli which falls under Chikkaballapur constituency, JD(S) leader, Konappa Reddy, said that he and his supporters are compelled to support Veerappa Moil's candidature to keep communal forces at bay and to fall in line with the coalition principles. "Congress has not been involving us in election matters. We are not being invited anywhere. We are being sidelined and neglected. Therefore we will go our way, and let them go on their own path," he fumed.
