Dr Acharya claimed that voters across the state were fed up with past state administration, and hence elected the BJP to power in 2008.  He added that the BJP had presented two popular budgets since it took the reins of the state nine months ago.

The home minister alleged that opposition parties which were unhappy with the success of the BJP-led state administration are engaged in propaganda aimed at destabilizing the state.

He acknowledged the support of party activists over the past 25 years of his political career, who have brought him to current heights.  Gowda assured that he would not interfere in the state administration and would instead concentrate on organizing party affairs.

Gowda promised that if elected, he would attempt to solve the diverse issues faced by the constituency such as irrigation, fisheries, coffee plantations, and areca cultivation. He accused the JD(S) of lacking confidence to contest the polls by themselves.

He said that it was certain that the BJP will succeed in winning 23 of the 28 Lok Sabha constituencies in the state and sought the people’s support in making veteran BJP leader L K Advani the next Prime Minister.
