Kundapur, Apr 3: "Kannada news channels are projecting as if election is being fought only in Mandya. Even the surveys are fake. BJP has spent Rs 550 crore for advertisements in media. That is why news channels are showing fake surveys instead of the reality. We will reply to all such attempts on May 23. We will definitely win 20 to 23 seats," said chief minister H D Kumaraswamy here on Wednesday April 3.

The chief minister was in Kundapur to participate in a meet as part of the campaign for JD(S)-Congress alliance candidate Pramod Madhwaraj ahead of the Lok Sabha elections.

Speaking to reporters, Kumaraswamy said, "There is no Modi wave this time and Modi government has not contributed anything to Karnataka. BJP leaders are stooping to new lows by giving objectionable statements these days.

"All the three seats in coastal Karnataka will be won by Congress-JD(S) alliance. BJP leaders seek vote in the name of Modi. But they cannot fool the electorate this time. The youth who are jobless will never vote for Modi," he said.

He also expressed confidence about his son Nikhil winning the Lok Sabha polls by huge margin of votes.

To a question on his party leader Shivarame Gowda's statement on Sumalatha, the CM said that he has never done politics in the name of caste and religion, and if one does so, it is wrong.

Fisherwomen's convention

Kumaraswamy also attended a convention of fisherwomen, where he assured them that his government supports them and promised to act on their demands once the election was over.

After inaugurating the convention, Kumaraswamy told the gathering, "After the elections are over, I will speak hold discussions on the problems faced by the fishing community. The fishermen are not making any great demands. We are with the fishermen. I am aware of the daily struggles of fishemen who go out into the sea every day.

"I am concerned about the fishermen who went missing in the sea in December. The state government has made all efforts to find them and has also announced interim compensation for their families. It is our earnest wish that the fishermen come back home alive and well," the CM said.

"It has come to my notice that our fishermen are facing problems near Maharashtra border. I will hold discussions with the Maharashtra government and sort out the issues," he added.
