Udupi, Mar 25: A Bharath Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) tower erected near the old building of T A Pai Management Institute (TAPMI) at Manipal, near here, collapsed on the Institute at 3.00 pm on Tuesday March 24.

The coastal district has been battered by heavy winds from the Arabian Sea since the afternoon of Monday March 23.

The TAPMI building was extensively damaged owing to the collapse of the tower. Four persons including a woman were also injured in the mishap.  Mobile connectivity and other telecom services were disrupted following the collapse of the transmission tower.

There were very few personnel at the Institute since all the departments were recently shifted to their new location at Alevoor, near here, thereby preventing a major mishap.
