Udupi: Salesian Provincial Fr Loddy Pires SDB Inaugurates Don Bosco Youth Centre

The newly set up Don Bosco Youth Centre, Shirva, near here by the Salesians was inaugurated at 10.00 am on Wednesday March 25, at a simple ceremony. 
 
Konkan Salesian Provincial Fr Loddy Pires SDB inaugurated the newly set up Don Bosco Youth Centre, Shirva, by cutting the ribbon.  Over 50 priests, local clergy and Salesians from the Konkan province were present at the occasion. 

Udupi Episcopal vicar Fr Baptist Menezes blessed the new Centre while Monsignor Denis Moras Prabhu offered the Holy Mass attended by large gathering of faithful including priests and local clergy. 
 

 

Shirva Our Lady of Health parish priest and vicar forane Fr Richard Coelho appreciated the support extended by the Salesians to the deanery and the parish in a special way.
 
The devotion towards Don Bosco has got re-established in the parish by dedicating the parish school in his honour ahead of Salesians setting up Youth Centre, here. 

Fr Michael Mascarenhas, acknowledged the services of an architect couple and the contractor in executing the construction works of the Centre. 
 
Fr Maxim said, ‘Don Bosco Shirva, in just two years has grown tremendously, with the bountiful blessings of God.’  He also thanked the donors and all those who contributed for the Salesians to strengthen their base here.
 
Don Bosco Shirva already has eight boarders who study in I PUC at the neigbbouring St Mary’s Pre University College.  Fr Francis Silveira supervises the administration while student and assistant C l Patrick Dias toil much to keep the Salesian spirit alive. Attached to this community is the community of Kelmbet just 15 kilometers away from here.  Fr Felix Serrao is the in-charge with administrator Fr Clive Tellis and C l Kiran Nazareth manages the parish and a boarding with about 30 boys.

    Fr. Lody, hearty congratulations for the official inauguration and blessing of the DON BOSCO YOUTH CENTRE, Shirva. The Salesians are grateful the the Diocese of Mangalore for inviting them to work in the Diocese for spredding the charism of Don Bosco - working for the poor and abandoned YOUTH. I wish a great future for the centre!
