Doha: Orxy Challengers emerge champions of Div II CDC cricket tournament

Doha, May 1: Orxy Challengers lifted the 30th CDC Cricket tournament 2019 Division II Trophy after defeating McDonalds by 15 runs here at the Losail Cricket Complex.

McDonalds won the toss and opted to bowl first.

Orxy Challengers batsmen Divyesh (43 runs off 19 balls with 3 6’s and 3 4’s, Jiga (45 runs off 23 balls with 5 6’s and 2 4’s) gave a defendable total of 180 runs in 19.3 overs. For McDonalds, Riyaz took 3 wickets for 22 runs, Lasantha took 2 wickets for 24 runs and Nova took 2 wickets for 32 runs.

In reply, Mcdonalds had a very good start and put up a 93 runs in the first 9 ovres and loosing 3 wickets.



There after some fine bowling from Nickil Akshay , Manjil and Mahaveer restricted McDonalds to 165 runs all out in 19.4 overs and thus won the title by 15 runs.

For Orxy Challengers, Nikhil took 4 wickets ( including hatrick) for 9 runs, Akshay took 2 wickets for 25 runs and Jiga took 2 wickets for 31 runs.

Jiga of Orxy Challengers was adujested as Man of the Finals.

Best of the tournament:

Best Batsman – Akshay of Orxy Challengers

Bet Bowler – Mahaveer of Orxy Challengers

Best All-rounder – Atiq of MIC

Best Wicket keeper – Ashish of Orxy Challengers.

At the prize distribution ceremony Sanjiv Jain, chief financial officer (CFO) of Construction Development Co and Sai Manoj, general manager of Millinuem Travels and Kader of CDC handed over the winners and runners up trophies. The prize distribution ceremony was attended by supporters and well- wishers. Over 300 prizes were given away to various players in the tournament.

The prize distribution ended with complimentary refreshments and a lucky draw for spectators.

Construction Development Co (CDC) has the distinction of being the oldest and most supportive sponsor of the Qatar Veteran’s Cricket League since the start of the League in 1988.
