Mangalore: Varun Gandhi was Rashid Malabari's Target ?

Mangalore, Apr 1: Rumours making rounds in the region claim that the arrested   Rashid Malabari, accomplice of Chota Shakeel, had planned to execute Varun Gandhi, who got mired in controversy after spewing venomous words of vengeance against the minority community during electioneering at Pilibhit.
 
Most of the Hindi national channels came out with the news that the gang was planning to target Varun Gandhi, son of Maneka Gandhi.









A television news channel carried the news, claiming it to be the police version that Rashid Malabari was engaged by Chota Shakeel, who was hired to kill Varun, to complete the task.  But the policemen in the city have so far not come out with details of the personality against whom the gang was hatching a plan.
 
Western range inspector general of police Gopal Hosur said that the matter is under investigation and hence, the policemen will not be disclosing any details of their findings at this juncture.
 
But it is certain that the arrested five were conspiring to execute a plan relating to the ensuing Lok Sabha election. It is said, they planned to kidnap a politician, demand a ransom of five crore rupees and to kill him if the ransom is not paid.
 
Varun Gandhi, BJP Lok Sabha candidate, has been marked by certain groups for his derogatory utterances against the minority community in India.
 
Along with Rasheed Malabari, Sahil Ismail sheikh, Sayaf T A, Ibrahim Kaup and Mohammad Hasim were arrested. They have been remanded to judicial custody till April 13.
 
The police sources said, Malabar will be interrogated by Mumbai and other state policemen too, as his name is linked with five murder cases. He is also wanted by the Interpol in connection with a murder case in Kuala Lumpur.

The police produced him in the  court  on  April 1 morning, for orders. The court has reserved its orders. He will either continue in judicial custody for the present, or might also be handed over to police custody. The orders are expected to be pronounced by Wednesday evening.

    What a shame ..Things have dramatically changed in the last 6 months..Our muslim and hindu brothers seem to just hit on only one direction whatever the news is..Religion..If Rashid Malbari is a criminal,he is been justified by our muslim brothers and if Santhu is a criminal he is been justified by our hindu brothers..nothing but the religion is seen first not his history and crime..Welldone both communities..

    It looks like people just read the heading and start commenting.Nowhere it is return that Manglore police told about Varun Ghandhi.News states that Hindi news channel reported...actually that was STAR news.if pepole watch this channel they will come to know that its not better then any comedy show...For everything blaming BJP as if When congress was there in power we were living like Kings is doesnt make any sense...people who ever voted them want them in power for five years,and I guess whoever doesnt want them will have chance after four years...So please just relax and stop complainning for everything.

    It would be too early to comment on this episode. Any way a hardcore criminal is caught. Let Police interrogate him & reveal the details. Let media also wait for the report & then pass on to people. It is natural that police may receive comment, but it doesn't mean comment is always true.

    This is bullshit from mangalore police, we mangaloreans are not fool to believe that the criminal Rasheed malabari has come to mangalore to kill Varun, if you had told some sadanand gowda we would have believed even though if it was a lie, mangalore police when you lie atleast try to be reasonable

    Well said Santhosh. BJP don'nt have any progressive programme. That's why every time when election comes they are trying to bring communal and hatried issue.Like every time they will not be successful this time also. They connot fool Indians always.     SANTHOSH, hats off to the proper assessesment made by you on the episode. The BS claim of the police only undermines their efforts in nabbing the culprits but satisfying their boss V S Acharya. Law and order should not be left to the state exclusively. Such rogue governments twist the law and order machinery for petty political gains.

Jaswant Singh is caught on camera distributing money openly to garner votes. Varun Gandhi is on camera begging for votes in the name of Jai Shri Ram.     Look at the body language of the suspect. A smile on his face. Can someone can smile while they are in police custody for a serious crime ? I think it is a polictcal drama just to get sympathy towards BJP and Varun Gandhi.

    Oh! What a joke! Police claiming that Rasheed Malbari was targeting Varun Gandhi. They caught Malbari a couple of days ago and were to elicit truth from him within two days. Is it possible! Rasheed is a hardcore criminal. These people are trained in such a way that they don't open their mouth come what may! Even ATS, or famed Interpol sleuths find them hard nut to crack. Now these Mangalore police are making us to believe that they have been successful in eliciting truth from Rasheed. I do respect Mangalore police for their swift action which was able to trap Rasheed. They should be commended for nabbing an Interpol-sought criminal. But leave it there itself. If he had to kill Varun, why should he come down to Dakshina Kannada where Varun is not expected to come in the near future? Why should he pick youth from DK for this task? Moreover, is Varun such a celebrity? He has become famous these days only because of his March 6 speech. Before that he was known only as Maneka's son who had some political ambitions. Now all of a sudden he has risen to the pedestal with his anti-nation (I term it anti-nation because he has divided voters) speech. Police themselves have told that Rasheed had been planning to ute his plan for the last 8-9 months. One can be very sure that Varun was nowhere in the picture till March 6 incident. Then how can his death be plotted? Would Chota Shakeel have planned to kill Varun 8-9 months ago? Ridiculous!! People those who are in responsible position should know to talk with responsibility. Meanwhile one cannot deny the fact that this could another move by politicians to get voters' sympathy. If one has a close view of past several years, one or the other issue is raked just before the election just in order to 'emotionally blackmail' voters. This time Varun Gandhi has been used, I guess!! Instead of going on details to public every now and then, let police complete investigation and come in front of the people with the final report.

    Great Job by DK Police personnel..!! Congratulations to all Police Officials concerned in this task. I feel it's too early to conclude about who the target was. Let us wait n watch for results of interrogations by police. It is also advisable that such confidential matters be kept under blanket till enough evidences are available. News spread like fire or even faster. Even if Varun Gandhi was the target here, thank God for averting it, coz it would have shaken up our country's peace n harmony yet again.

    Bal Thakeray and his so called group has no right to speak about Hindutva. For them Hindutva are only Maharashtrians. I dont believe an educated Hindu would agree to what Varun Gandhi commented so please Mr. Thackery the 83% Hindus you are talking about to be arrested are not foolish to believe you or your Sena or fanatics like Varun Gandhi.

    Unless we as Indians, stand as one, irrespective of religion,caste,etc, the country can never be progressive. Even in this 21st century, people still fight and kill each other in the name of God, is a disgrace on the very truth that we are humans. All the organizations which promote religious fanatism (be it whatever religion) must be banned and the lead promoters of those orgatizations must be strictly punished. If we ponder about logically, I think, no religion or no God can tolerate intolerance towards a fellow human being.
