CBI Clears Tytler in '84 Anti-Sikh Riots Case

New Delhi, Apr 2: Amid objections by Opposition BJP, the CBI has given a clean chit to senior Congress leader Jagdish Tytler in the 1984 anti-Sikh riots case. The agency’s report was desealed in court on Thursday.

In its report, the Central Bureau of Investigation has also said that the FIR against Tytler should be cancelled. The CBI informed a Delhi court that it wanted to close the investigation into the case.

The CBI counsel told Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Rakesh Pandit that "We have filed the cancellation report in the matter and want to close the investigation."

Earlier, the court had ordered the opening of the sealed envelope containing the final investigation report, filed on March 28 and other status reports submitted by the CBI during the probe.

H S Phoolka, counsel for Delhi Sikh Gurudwara Management Committee, raised objections over the alleged leak of the report to Tytler who had claimed innocence in the case.

"CBI seems to be hand in gloves with the accused who claims that he has been given clean chit," he said.

The court has now fixed the matter for April 9. Earlier, the probe agency had on September 29, 2007, sought to close the case against Tytler. But the court had on December 19, 2007, asked it to file the investigation report after Jasbir Singh, a witness, surfaced and expressed his willingness to depose against the Congress leader.

The case against Tytler relates to an incident on November 1, 1984, when a mob set afire Gurudwara Pulbangash killing three persons in the riots that had broken out after the assassination of then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi.

Dear Miyan Ramesh Pai, I think you have not read my previous comments on daijiworld. I have explained earlier about my Hindu brotghers. You and your party related only to bjp which wanted to grab power by hook and crook. BJP is the main party behind the screen in the Sikhs Riots of 1984 that is the truth. Cannot you digest? Ask VHP and RSS secretly. Publicly they will not say

Dear Mr. Ananad Mangalore, Do you find biased and nonsense view in my message? If the truth is hurled one time, it is the truth. Does it need thousand lies to hide one truth? BJP men are not involved in the 1984 Sikh riots? Now also the RSS & VHP disowns them in the public. Hear and watch what Mr. Ananth Kumar Hegde says? You will find the truth. Self explanatory Mr. Anand. After the chaos political party leaders visit and offer sympathy to people to obtain power/to score marks by hook or crook that is the work of our leaders. Can't you see the bjp is beating its own breast and telling nationalistic party and bought coffins for the dead Indian soldiers at higher prices from USA and pocketed commission money? Is there more shame than this? Congress bjp and other various parties are all involved in the Sikhs riots of 1984. When the churches were attacked in Mangalore for a week was there law and order situation for a three days? It was God who protected Christians because of their good will towards Hindus and other communities but the fundamentals have gone mad even today. CBI bungled up the Ottavio Quattrocchi extradition case under this Government, why should it surprise anyone if Mr. Tytler or any other senior congress leader gets a clean chit ? Didn't Sanjay Dutt just say that he has taped a senior Congress minister threaten him with court conviction if he did not join Congress party ? If the senior Congress party leaders were not guilty, why did Congress leaders including our present PM, Mr. Manmohan Singh, have to issue public apologies to the Sikh community for those massacres on behalf of their party ???

Who ever were above 55 years old now will understand the depth of anti Sick riots happened in Delhi. Who ever is below that age, can presume, I repeat, can presume, if Mr. Advani was shot dead by three Christian people, how will the BJP Party people will react? Same way, when Indira Gandhi was assassinated by her own security guards, belongs to sick community, the Congress party workers were lead by their emotion, grief and anger rioted. Mr.Tytler , who was then, the Delhi local leader, was accused, of instigating and leading the party workers, to attack the local Sick community people. This case was investigated, re – investigated by various committees and agencies over the period of time. The result was debated in the political forums. Now after 25 years, CBI gives clean chit to Mr. Tytler, will definitely not hold water. His image as the Instigator in Sick Community people’s mind will not change. Now Opposition should not crib about CBI’s verdict, because NDA had a chance of unveiling the truth, while they ruled five year term in Centre, they didn’t bother. Now their cribbing will be seen as Election Stunt.

Get your facts right Mr Gonsalves. It was Atal Bihari Vajpayee who visited the riot infested areas during the Sikh riots in 1984 and ensured that the victims get some solace. Don't utter nonsense on a public portal. Don't have a biased view of everything.
