Bangalore: Rashid Plotted to Kill Jivraj Alva 18 Years Ago

Bangalore, Apr 3: The interrogation following the arrest of Dawood’s Ibrahim’s henchman, Rashid Malabari has revealed that his association with the dreaded D–Gang goes back 18 years. The interrogation of this man against whom a look out notice was issued 9 years back has further revealed that he had plotted to kill veteran Congress leader, Jivraj Alva at Bangalore 18 years back.
The city police are reopening the 18-year-old case pending against Rashid which was closed soon after he escaped to Saudia Arabia . Rashid name surfaced in 1991 when he along with his two Mumbai based associates started threatening Jivraj Alva demanding extortion money.
Jivraj alva reportedly refused to pay for which Rashid along with his two associates, Salauddin and Masthan Shekih had come to Bangalore to kill Jivraj and stayed in KG Halli.
The plot exposed as Rashid went to make a telephone call in a local telephone booth ( since mobile were not in use those days) to his masters in Mumbai and saw a man using the booth for a long time.
Verbal dual ensuedd between Rashid and the caller when Rashid asked him to make it fast. When the argument turned violent, in a fit of rage, Rasheed Pulled out his revolver and fired in the air .
Sensing danger, he soon fled the scene with his associates to Mumbia from thier he was sent to Saudi Arabia. The police who rushed to the spot zeroed in on a local youth who has provided logistic support to Rashid and from him, they came to know about the plot. THe city police who went till Mumbai on his trail got to know Rashid had fled to Saudi Arabia and with the help of CBI approached the interpol and got issued a red corner notice against him.
With his arrest now, we can reopen tand investigate the case which was closed since 18 years, said a police officer stating that they would question him in this regard.
Meanwhile Rashid and his accomplices were taken to Ullal police station amidst tight police security on Friday April 3.
