Udupi, April 3: The Lokayukta police raided two luxurious residences of the  Kundapur Range forest officer Abdul Aziz, located at Belapu village, near here in the early hours of Friday April 3 . It is reported that they found documents of unaccounted property worth Rs 1 crore.

Lokayukta police led by Mangalore division superintendent of police Dharmaraj and Udupi division deputy superintendent of police Prabudev Mane, arrived at the residence of forest officer Abdul Aziz, along with a search warrant from court at 6.30 am on Friday.

The police first raided the residence of Abdul Aziz located near Belapu maidan and then his father in law’s house located close to  the Darga.  Abdul Aziz is found to have owned around 5 acres of agricultural land worth about Rs 50 lakhs, a luxurious farm house, jewellery worth Rs 2 lakhs in the bank locker of his wife’s personal account, Rs 1 lakh in cash,  a Jeep and motor cycle worth Rs 5 lakhs, LIC policies and investments in shares and mutual funds.

The local Kaup police assisted the Lokayukta personnel who arrived in 5 vehicles .

Although the forest officer Abdul Aziz was a well respected person in the locality, the property , disproportionate to his known source of income from government service seemed to have raised quite a few eye brows  among the locals in the neighborhood.

Virtually, it is palace built from nations money. Forest wealth having been looted by bandits as Veerapan, who in turn would pay heavily to corrupt officials to keep they away. Naturally, corrupt officials would be more interest in other revenues than their govt. pay. Once money earned, it needs to be hidden. Good place is fixed assets, where value dwindles over years, unnoticed by people. Shame on all Corrupt Official !
