Lucknow: Varun Refuses to Give Voice Sample

TNN

Lucknow, Apr 6: In a fresh twist to the hate speech controversy, Varun Gandhi refused to give a sample of his voice to a team from Pilibhit police on Sunday.

Headed by investigating officer Maniram Rao, the team reached the Etah district jail, where Varun is lodged after being booked under National Security Act (NSA). But they had to return empty-handed as Varun refused to co-operate.

Police said they wanted to examine the CD containing the alleged hate speech by Varun during the Lok Sabha election campaign in Pilibhit where he is the BJP candidate, by forensic experts.

Varun has claimed that the CD was doctored.

Rao and five of his subordinates arrived at the Etah district jail around 9:30 am. The team produced the letter of permission from the chief judicial magistrate (CJM), Pilibhit, to record Varun's voice samples before the jail superintendent Viresh Rai Sharma.

After some arguments with the jail authorities over carrying a video and audio recorder with them inside the jail without any specific permission, the team was informed that Varun has refused to give with his voice samples. Varun is believed to have told the team that he would not allow them to record any sample in the absence of his lawyer or without his permission.

Let him be inside for some more time, at least till the election is over. He will come out like a tamed tiger, will never ever venture into this type of misadventure.

Shahnawaz Kukkikatte, What is there for Varun to prove his innocence ? He did something trusting BJP's support. However, BJP will use him and God forbid one fine day he will face same fate of Hindu Swamy in Assam by BJP & the Muslims will experience the same fate what christians faced in Assam. Varun and his mother better beware of BJP & apologise for his hate speech & keep away from politics till he is matured. God save innocent mother & son.

Well.. Well... the lad has landed himself in hot soup. He should have shut up after giving the speech not cry foul saying the recording is doctored. In one way he is hero-worshiped for having said that at the same time he is denies the speech. The sentiments of Hindus is surely taken for granted by these politicians.

There are techniques to check voice complacency even of an overseas telephone call. Now, what is this drama of not giving a voice sample except in the presence of a lawyer ? Maadiddannuno Maharaya - indeed ! BJP will forget who Varun is after the elections ! His mother will lament for lifetime of her brave son and sacrifice he did for the nation !

Arun Gandhi should be given a chance to defend himself and he must co operate with the judicial system and prove his innocence to the nation.
