Mumbai: Good Friday Begins With Emotional Way of the Cross

Mumbai: Good Friday Begins With Emotional Way of the Cross

Report and Pictures by Dr Eugene D’Souza
Daijiworld Media Network - Mumbai

Mumbai, Apr 10: Good Friday, one of the most significant days in the Christian liturgical calendar is being observed throughout the world with prayers, fasting and services in the Churches. In many of the parishes in Mumbai and elsewhere, the day began with Way of the Cross in various languages. In many parishes, in order to highlight the passion and sufferings of Christ, the Way of the Cross has been enacted.

In the Infant Jesus Parish, Dombivli, the youth enacted the Way of the Cross in the presence of nearly a thousand faithful at 8 AM. The scenes of the fourteen stations enacted by the youth had such a great emotional impact on the people that many of them could not resist their tears witnessing and mediating on the sufferings and death of Christ.

The enactment of the Way of the Cross was directed by Ivan Quadros and the role of Jesus Christ was enacted by Melwyn Miranda.

Its very encouraging to see the youth of Infant Jesus Parish in Dombivili to enact the entire Passion of the Lord in todays time. It goes to show that not all is lost, clearly we can see a light at the end of the tunnel. I hope the people all over irrespective of caste, creed or religion practice or atleast try to implement these teachings in our daily lives. Keep up the good work. Your sacrifice will be duly rewarded in some way or the other.

Seeing the pictures i could sense the feeling and emotions that the youth had created by their act. What if we were not during the time when Jesus was crucified but we can still feel the pain he went through. Good work dear friends.
