Udupi: Grand celebration of 'Hanumajjayanti': Six Chariots Seen Together for First Time

Udupi, Apr 10: 'Hanumajjayanti Utsav,' a celebration of Lord Hanuman's birth anniversary, was held in a grand manner by Sri Krishna Mukhyaprana Seva Samiti here under the aegis of Paryaya Sri Puttige Math at Sri Krishna Math here on Thursday April 9.

Various award-winning Bhajana Mandals got involved with chanting of Bhajans in the Math since the morning. Sri Vishweshateertha Swamiji of Pejawar Math inaugurated the Bhajans programme in the morning. Sri Sugunendrateertha Swamiji of Puttige Math, Sri Lakshmivarateertha Swamiji of Shirur Math, entrepreneurs Bhuvanendra Kidiyoor, Manohar Shetty, Surendra Kallianpur, K Bhaskar Salian, Hariappa Kotian etc., were present.



Thousands of people took part in the community feast arranged in the afternoon. A grand 'Teppotsava' in which the idol of Lord Hanuman was taken around on a raft in Madhwa Sarovar ,was held at night. After this programme, car festival in which six beautifully decorated chariots were pulled, was held. The city witnessed the six chariots being pulled together for the first time. Devotees of Lord Hanuman took part in all the proceedings to their contentment.

Similar programmes were also held at various Lord Hanuman temples in the twin districts.

    Gorgeous photographs and beautiful celebrations. It is as good as being there. Udupi is such a clean & beautiful place and the people of all the caste and creed lover each other.     Nice pictures and coverage. Its good to see the celebrations in peaceful way. My best wishes to my hindu brethern on this occasion. Secondly itsa great and holy month for my christian brothers. 2day is good friday and next Sunday is easter Sunday. The message of peace is echoed in all parts of the world.
