Mangalore: Tanker Accident Near Kulur Leaves One dead, Two Injured

Mangalore, Apr 11:  One person died  and two  others were injured in an accident  near Kulur, which involved a  tanker  hitting the  old bridge, on the   evening of Friday, April 11.

The  tanker was  loaded  with about 12000 liters of diesel  when the mishap occurred.  Rash and negligent driving  is believed to be the reason for the driver losing control of the vehicle.

The tanker   was on the way to  Subrahmnanya  from Indian Oil corporation plant in Baikampady after filling  diesel .

The deceased has been identified as Dombayya Poojary, a   resident of Thumbey  and the injured are  Praveen  and  Nagesh  both residents of Bantwal .

When the accident  occurred the diesel from the tanker started to  leak  and the spill created  a potential risk.   But a  company  located close by which involved in  pipeline, Parichith Industries ltd,  provided  cranes and lifted the  tanker.

Ex-mayor  Divakar, who rushed to the spot, helped in the hospitalization of  the injured. He also  notified  immediately  the police and the fire department.

Divakar  said, that the diesel spill could have been dangerous but immediate action  by  the Parichith  industries and  the public , along with the fire department  helped in averting further damage.

 Jayesh Patil from Parichith Industries said,  we engaged our  two  cranes to  lift the tanker. By this the road block was cleared immediately   otherwise the traffic jam will go long. He said

The  highway  was  blocked for one hour  on account of the accident. It is estimated that the loss to be  approximatey  Rs  5 lakhs.
