Kandahar Uproar - BJP Seizes on PC Remark to Defend its Chief

TNN

New Delhi, Apr 14: In its attempt to counter Congress's attack on L K Advani for succumbing to pressure and releasing three terrorists during the Kandahar hijack drama, BJP quoted home minister P Chidambaram's statement on the issue made some time back where he agreed that it was a "difficult decision".

Advising Congress leader Rahul Gandhi to go through Advani's book "again", BJP on Monday said the answer to how the Kandahar hijack should have been handled lay "buried" in the statement by Chidambaram who had said it was a "difficult" decision to release terrorists. "The reply lies buried in the statement of home minister P Chidambaram," said party spokesperson Siddharth Nath Singh.

"I do not know how I would have reacted if 150 families came to my door and pleaded that their loved ones in that aircraft must be saved. It is easy to criticise but if one is in that position, it is a very difficult decision," Chidambaram had said.
