KISHANGANJ, Apr 19: The All India Imam Organisation on Sunday said the BJP alone was responsible for the Babri Masjid demolition.
The organization was referring to the allegations of RJD supremo Lalu Prasad that the Congress was also to be blamed for the demolition of the Babri mosque.
"There is no substance in their allegations against the Congress on the Babri demolition issue. None else than the BJP, L K Advani and the then Uttar Pradesh chief minister Kalyan Singh were responsible for the nation's shame," the organization's vice-chairman, Aari Hibjur Rehman Merutti, said.
"Even Atal Behari Vajpayee, the unchallengeable face of BJP, had no role in the Babri masjid demolition. Vajpayee even wept after the incident," he said.
"It is nothing but politicking by Lalu Prasad and LJP chief Paswan as they are facing stiff contest from Congress nominees in Bihar and Jharkhand. There is no meat in these allegations as people will reject them," Merutti added.
