Dubai: KEL organizes workshop on honing communication skills

Media Release

Dubai, Apr 21: “The one thing that leaves most people white-knuckled is the idea of speaking in public. In fact, more people say they are afraid of delivering a speech than death itself!  But ask top entrepreneurs what has helped propel them and their businesses to the forefront, and they will unanimously pinpoint their ability to motivate groups of people.”

These were the opening remarks from Ivan Fernandes, Chairman of the recently formed KE Global, at the workshop on “Effective Communications Skills”, conducted at India Club on Saturday, 18th April, 2009.

The workshop was conducted by none other than Claudius Pereira, a founding lead member of Kanara Entrepreneurs, Bangalore. A successful IT entrepreneur, Pereira is also the charter member of the first Toastmasters Club in India and has more than 12,000 hours of training experience in marketing and personality development programmes.

Pereira was part of a high-profile delegation of Bangalore-based businesspersons and KE Bangalore members, who were visiting the UAE last week, at the invitation of their Dubai counterparts. With his combination of effective delivery techniques, including voice modulation, body language and practical sessions, Pereira mesmerised the participants for the next five hours by highlighting the do’s and don’ts of public speaking.

To keep the workshop interactive, participants were split into four groups and each group was judged for their active participation with a trophy for the final winner. The participants were given different individual and team tasks and their performances were reviewed under the discerning eyes of the judges.

The workshop looked at clarity, purpose, commitment and translation through video clips and exercises with pre and post self-assessment with the focus on achieving productivity skills both professionally & personally, enabling participants to break the knowledge trap and build the execution gap. The event concluded with awards for the best performing team.

“I am glad that our members have had such a great experience at the workshop,” said Ivan Fernandes. “The feedback has been excellent and KE Global is now encouraged to organise many more useful events for its members that is aimed at enriching their experience and expose them to such important skills.”

I think Mr Vincent needs to understand that KEL is not a banker that finances projects. Many feel that by attending a meeting or two, they can get money from their business ideas. KEL operates professionally and you need to give them your business ideas or problems faced by you in business and they guide you and share their experiences with you.
