Kandahar Hijack - Cong Dismisses Jaswant's Claim

PTI

New Delhi, Apr 24: The Congress on Friday dismissed senior BJP leader Jaswant Singh's claim that LK Advani had opposed the decision to free terrorists during the Kandahar hijack crisis as "suspicious in timing and completely opportunistic."

"Jaswant Singh's statement is suspicious in timing, completely opportunistic and self-serving, intended to cover up Advani's default and promote his prime ministerial ambition," Congress spokesperson Abhishek Singhvi said.

Noting that the statement has come 10 years too late, he said "such self-serving statements in the middle of elections fool no one."

Jaswant had on Thursday said in Darjeeling that "two members in the Vajpayee Cabinet were opposed to the idea of release of any terrorist in exchange for hijacked Indian Airlines passengers and pay any price. LK Advani and Arun Shourie voiced their views against...that should not be done. And I am sharing this for the first time."

If they can say this now, shortly they might say that Kargill attack was not during NDA rule. Your brain works very slow Mr. Jaswanth Singh and your party proved that BJP cannot rule India with their own ideas.
