Fr Lewis said that it’s a great occasion for the parishioners of Perampalli, who  have got an opportunity to honour Cascia for his involvement in Konkani theatre over the past many years and helping promote Konkani and its culture both in India and abroad.

Acknowledging the honour bestowed upon him, Cascia said that native Konkans should not forget their mother tongue and their hometown wherever they go.  He added, although Konkani readers are becoming a rare breed due to the craze for English, enlightened Konkans should strive to promote Konkani through the media and theatre that are affective in reaching the message to the masses.
