Bengaluru, Jun 1: A division bench of the high court here vacated an interim stay granted by a single judge bench of the court against suspension order and charge sheet against registrar of Visveshwaraya Technological University (VTU), Dr H N Jagannath Reddy. With this, the division bench upheld the appeal preferred by the university. A division bench of the high court comprising Justice Narayanaswamy and Justice Dinesh Kumar passed this order.
The bench, which vacated the stay granted by the single judge bench on April 9, asked Dr Reddy to face departmental enquiry.
Reddy was accused of claiming excess travel allowance during 2015-16 and causing loss to the univeristy. A retired judge had been appointed to investigate the matter. On the basis of the probe report, vice chancellor, Karisiddappa, had ordered suspension of Dr Reddy through an order dated February 15, 2019. Dr Reddy had questioned this order in the high court. The single bench of the high court which took up the petition, had issued interim stay against the suspension order and charge sheet, and postponed hearing.
