Mangaluru: Catholic Sabha urges govt not to cancel public holiday on Good Friday

Mangaluru, Jun 2: Catholic Sabha Mangalore Pradesh urged government not to cancel public holiday on Good Friday.

Addressing media here on Saturday, June 1, Catholic Sabha Mangalore Pradesh president Rolphy D Costa said, "We are deeply hurt with the government decision to scrap public holiday on Good Friday. This has hurt the sentiments of Christian community. We demand the state government not to scrap the public holiday on Good Friday.

“We have also submitted memorandum to the chief minister and deputy chief minister through deputy commissioner Sasikanth Senthil, MLC Ivan D’Souza and district in-charge minister U T Khader demanding not to cancel public holiday on Good Friday,” he said.

Vice president Harry Rego, general secretary Naveen Braggs, joint secretary Ajay Pais and Victor Correa were present.
