Bengaluru, Jun 2: After Amit Shah was allotted Ministry of Home Affairs, Karnataka Minister Priyank Kharge took a jibe at him and said the ministry should be renamed as "Ministry of Providing Clean Chits".
Priyank, who is a minister for Social Welfare in the Karnataka Government and son of Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge took to twitter to state his ‘suggestion’.
BJP state president BS Yeddyruppa was quick to respond and attributed Mallikarjun Kharge's defeat to his son.
“Because of Priyank Kharge, Mallikarjun Kharge lost over 1 Lakh votes. He’s speaking nonsense without any base. I condemn the statement,” he told reporters in Shivamogga.
Meanwhile, union minister of chemicals and fertilizers DV Sadananda Gowda took to twitter to criticize Priyank Kharge.
His tweet in Kannada which is a pun roughly translates to, "Dear Priyank Kharge, you should stop showing your hand to astrologers for them to tell you that you have bad fortune. Your party symbol is a 'hand' and just 10 days ago people of the country have showed you your fate. First, set things right in your own home before correcting others."
Shah has handled the portfolio as Home Minister at the state level in Gujarat under Modi. He is famed for his organisational abilities and now will have to tackle challenges like terrorism, maoists violence and problems in Kashmir as the Home Minister.
