Mangaluru: Certificate course on traditional Konkani songs inaugurated at Kalaangann

Mangaluru, Jun 2: The inauguration ceremony of the certificate course of traditional Konkani songs that is organised under the joint auspices of Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy and Mandd Sobhann organisation was held at Kalaangann of Shaktinagar in the city on Sunday, June 2.

The programme was inaugurated by renowned music trainer Anil Patrao.

Speaking on the occasion, Eric Ozario said, "Folk songs are the rich part of any culture. The role of women in nurturing the same is crucial. These songs contain the stories and developments of the generation. This course is organized with the aim of teaching the same to the next generation."

Luvi Pinto, president of Mandd Sobhann, Kishore Fernandes, Secretary and Sunil Monteiro were present. Vittori Karkal compered the programme.

Around 60 people are participating in this course. Most of them are youths. The valedictory function of the same will be held on July 14.
