Bantwal, Jun 4: “Some BJP leaders have set aside their party principles during victory celebrations at Pariyaltadka junction, Punacha of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’ on the eve of his oath taking for the second time and hurled expletives at Congress leader and Kolnadu zilla panchayat member M S Mohammed. We condemn it,” said Vittal-Uppinangadi block Congress president Muraleedhar Rai Marantabettu.

Speaking in the news conference at Vittal Press club on Monday, he said that insulting religion and caste discarding political motto does not bring glory to BJP leaders. “Success and failure are certain in politics. There are repeated ups and downs in it. Politicians accept that as the success of democracy. But insulting others for it is not right,” he said.

“M S Mohammed is felicitated in Punacha Mahishamardini temple for his secular mind-set. We condemn Hindu community members coming from elsewhere and trying to malign his reputation. Senior leaders should guide those youths properly,” he urged.

Punacha gram panchayat president Prathibha Sridhar Shetty said that those who spoke during victory celebrations in Punacha are outsiders. “They have spoken as they like making us unable to lift our heads. It has made us upset,” he said.

DCC chief secretary, Pravinchandra Alva, secretaries Ullas Kotian and Ramanath Vitla were present in the news conference.
