Udupi: Devotees pour in Horekanike offerings at Sri Krishna Math

Udupi, Jun 5: The devotees and members of various organisations offered food items like rice, coconut, vegetables and other necessities to Sri Krishna Math during Horekanike, organised as part of the Brahmakalashotsava of Lord Sri Krishna.

The Hasiru Horekanike was flagged off by Mohanadasa, Srikshethra Manila and Sri Kondevur Swamiji here on Tuesday, June 4.

The long procession started from Jodukatte, passed through Old Taluk Office road, Court road, Old Diana Circle, Kavi Muddana road, Thriveni circle, Kanakadasa road, Car Street, Vidyodaya School and culminated at Rajangana parking space.

The devotees also offered vegetables like jackfruit, Mattu Gulla (a type of brinjal), pumpkin, cucumber and other items. The food items will be used to prepare food on Maha Annasantharpanam to be held on June 9.

Horekanike was offered by the residents, community associations from Katpadi, Mattu, Olakadu, Shirva and places in and around the Udupi city.

Sri Pejawar Swamiji’s Muslim fans club offered 6,000 litres of drinking water and vegetables. Udupi-Kadiayali Sarvajanika Ganeshotsav committee also provided water to be used for Brahmakalashotsava.

The vehicles were decorated with flowers, banana saplings. Mattu Gulla, the famous vegetable of the coast was brought separately brought in a palanquin. The Hasiru Hore Kanike was accompanied by tableaus, women performing chende, band set, bhajan teams and devotees.

MLA Raghupathi Bhat, S Vedavyasa Thanthri, Shreesha Bhat, Harishna Punaroor and others were present.
