Udupi, Jun 6: “Now the entire world is attracted towards the Sri Krishna Math in the city because of the golden dome that will be dedicated to Lord Sri Krishna. People should think of the purpose behind the Suvarna Gopura. I have travelled to all countries. The beautiful churches and mosques are the main tourist attractions. In Japan, Buddha statues and in Indonesia, Hindu temples are the main attractions. God must be in higher position than human. In India, there are best destinations to visit, but this Suvarna gopura would be a great place for tourists across the world,” said Dharmadhikari of the Dharmasthala Temple Dr Veerendra Heggade.

Dr Heggade was speaking on the occasion of Sasya Gopuram, organised to mark the World Environment day at Rajangana in Sri Krishna math here on Wednesday, June 5. He further said, “There are crores of rich people here, but no one had the dare to make golden sanctum to Sri Krishna. Moreover, god's motivation is important. Some people might have criticized this work. But they must understand the reason behind it. Environment is an asset for the future generation. One should have a vision of what should be done for the next 50 years. Nature is alarming today. Government cannot do all developments alone, so people must do their duty.”

“People cut down trees, which resulted in increase of Carbon content in the air. Let people plant Tulsi saplings around their yard because it has medical contents and power to resist diseases,” added Dr Veerendra Heggade.

Sri Vidyadhisha Theertha Swamiji in his blessings address said, “Whatever the gifts offered to God, Goddess Lakshmi lies in that. Because gold is pure, it will not lose its original colour.”

“Human beings are also a cause for environment pollution. That is why monsoon is getting delayed. There are some harmful projects and industries in Udupi. Let us love nature and make it prosperous. It would be a great asset for future generation,” added Sri Vidyadhisha Theertha Swamiji.

Sri Vidyavallabha Swamiji of Kaniyur Math said, “Suvarna gopura gives a message to society. There is no need to find God; he always lives in the gopura (sanctum). Likewise human body is also a temple (garbha gudi). Mind is golden sanctum. If we see at God with all devotion, we can get God's grace. Only then, God will reside in our mind. We should study shastras and Vedas to find God in us.”

“The environment day should not be restricted to one day. Let us all take an oath of planting at least one sapling today,” added Kaniyur Swamiji.

The guests of the occasion distributed Tulsi saplings to the devotees gathered.

Vasudeva Asranna of Kateel temple, Harish Kotian, chairman Dharma Foundation, Girish, Vadavyasa Thantri, Diwan of Palimar Paryaya Math, Prabhakar Shetty, businessman and his wife, Pavamana Acharya Kallapura, Nagraj, manager, Bank of Baroda and Harikrishna Punarur, former president, Kannada Sahithya Parishad were present.
