Mangaluru, Jun 6: Central Arecanut and Cocoa Marketing and Processing Co-operative (CAMPCO) turnover crossed Rs 1,800 crore, record purchases and sales in the history of CAMPCO.
Addressing media here on Thursday, June 6, President of CAMPCO, S R Sathischandra said, "For the financial year 2018-19, CAMPCO has not only crossed an all -time high turnover of Rs 1,878 crore, but has also achieved record purchases and sales in the history of CAMPCO well recognised for its quality products. Under social responsibility, CAMPCO has extended financial aid towards the medical treatment of our grower members and totally 31 beneficiaries have availed this facility, of which 19 members have been given aid for open heart surgery and 12 days for dialysis treatment.”
Satishchandra further said, "To have intercrops in arecanut gardens, CAMPCO has arranged to distribute 30,000 pepper saplings to the members and held interactions with them. The total production of CAMPCO chocolate factory has touched 14,606 Metric Tonnes (MT), out of which, 10,042 MTs is produced for own CAMPCO brand and sold chocolates worth Rs 193 crore including export of 1106 MTs, valued at Rs 16.75 crore. Processing charges is valued at Rs 10 crore.
“To cater to the increased demand, CCF has now installed a choco chips, a new drop chocolate plant of 10 metric tonnes (MT) per day capacity, imported from Turkey at a cost of Rs 3.50 crore. CAMPCO is now building a state of the art Master Godown at Kavu Puttur with around One lac sq feet area, with a separate Cocoa processing unit to cater to the needs of foreign market. In addition to the above, efforts are on to provide sufficient storage space for farmers’ produce. In this direction it is proposed to construct master godowns at Baikampady, Belthangady, Sagar and Thrissur during this financial year,” said Sathischandra.
He further said, "CAMPCO board has also come up with a decision to give compensation of Rs 50,000 to the nominee of the active worker of CAMPCO in case he or she meets with an accident from June 1.
