Udupi: Woman commits suicide by jumping into river Sita

Udupi, Jun 7: In an incident that occurred on the morning of Friday, June 7, a woman committed suicide by jumping into river Sita from Mabukala bridge near here.

The deceased lady is identified as Muddumane Suvarna Latha (52), who is working since 18 years as a temporary staff at the post office at Sastan.

As per the information given by the police, the deceased lady was working normally on the early morning in the post office. However, after sometime, she closed the post office, handed over the key to people residing at a house nearby, went straight to the Mabukala bridge and jumped into the river.

Husband of the deceased lady works at Mysuru and it is suspected the woman must have committed suicide as she was depressed of not having children in spite of being married for a long time.

Brahmavar police are investigating further.
