Mangaluru: Traditional ‘Halasu Mela’ will begin at Pilikula from Jun 8

Mangaluru, Jun 8: The famous Pilikula fruit festival and jackfruit festival known as ‘Halasu Mela’ will begin on Saturday, June 8 at Pilikula. Pilikula Nisargadhama and District Agricultural Association will jointly organising a week-long festival with exhibition of fruits, sale and food made out of jackfruit.

The festival is going to showcase various varieties of jackfruits and mangoes. Other kinds of fruits will also be exhibited and sold by vendors.

Medicinal plants, seeds, khadi clothes, pomegranate peels, hand-woven clothes, Udupi sarees, various food and agricultural products will be put up for exhibition and sale. Food items prepared from fruits will also be available for public.

Fisheries Development Corporation of Karnataka government will put on some valuable varieties of fish and food on exhibition and sale.
