Udupi: St Mary’s Orthodox Syrian Church, JCI Kallianpur celebrate World Environment Day

Udupi, Jun 10: St Mary’s Orthodox Syrian Church, Brahmavar and JCI Kallianpur marked World Environment Day on June 5 at the church premise.

World Environment Day was celebrated by planting saplings in the church premise by the JCI Zone 15 officer Soujanya Hegde. She said “Let these saplings grow as huge trees and let the trees contribute to the betterment of people through various means.”

On the occasion, a new rain water harvesting plant was also inaugurated by Fr Eldo Paul, parish priest of St Mary’s Orthodox Syrian Church, Brahmavar. The unit aims to save 25 lac liters of rain water every year.



JCI Kallianpur president Asha Alan Vaz, secretary Rohini Chitrakumar, SMOS youth organization vice president Revan Lewis, secretary Aaron Roche, trustees of the church, Avita D’Souza and others were present.
