Mangaluru: Udupi Youth Commission visit Kalaangan in city for study

Mangaluru, Jun 10: A 25 member team of ICYM and YCS representing Youth Commission of Udupi diocese visited Kalaangan in the city on Sunday, June 9 to know more about Konkani culture.

Public relation officer of Mandd Sobhann Victor Mathias provided information on the Konkani language, culture, the activities conducted at Kalaangan, sculputures and the items of daily use that were used by the Konkani people, preserved in the museum. Gurkar of Mandd Sobhann Eric Ozario sung some traditional Dekni folk songs and explained their meaning.



Director Fr Edwin D'Souza, animator Lidwin Aranha, YCS national president Derryl D'Sa were present with the team. A camp called 'Zalak', throwing light on the Konkani language and culture is being held from June 9 to 12 at the St Joseph's Church, Belman, organized by the Udupi diocese youth commission on account of the Christian Youth year.
