Kaup: Distressed at losing job - Man from Katapadi commits suicide

Kaup, Jun 13: A person who was overtaken by a sense of distress at losing job he had in a foreign country, hanged himself on Wednesday June 12. The victim has been identified as Sadananda D Poojary (55), a resident of Ambady in Katapadi.

Sadananda Poojary was working in a Gulf country. He had visited his native place for performing the marriage of his daughter three months ago. After her marriage, his daughter had left for Bengaluru two days back.

Poojary was preparing to go back and join for work, but he was informed in the meantime that he had lost his job. Overtaken emotionally by this news, he hanged himself by tying the bed sheet to a railing of the steps leading to the upper storey of his house, making a noose from the other end and hanging from it.

Sadananda Poojary was a native of Mangaluru. Since the last two decades he was living in Katapadi Ambady after he constructed a house for the family there. He is survived by wife, a son, and a daughter.

On the basis of report filed in this connection by Janardan, brother of the deceased, Kaup police registered a case and took up investigation.
