Mangalore, May 8: The trophy of the first global Konkani Music awards was unveiled by Ronald Colaco, philanthropist and NRI entrepreneur at Hotel Deepa Comforts here on Friday May 8.
 
Unveiling the trophy Ronald Colaco said that the programmes which make Konkani powerful and popular at the global level should be promoted and all should support such programmes.

Eric Ozario, Gurkar, Mandd Sobhann said that the First Global Konkani awards is just the beginning of another golden chapter in the annals of Konkani.

He also thanked and appreciated the efforts of artist Jagadeesh Ammunje in designing the trophy.
 
Louis J Pinto, president, Mandd Sobhann was also present.

The awards will be presented at a gala function to be held at Kalaangann at Shaktinagar here on Sunday May 10.

    Mandd Sobhann is doing a great job to place Konkani at the global map. They always had unique programmes for Konkani people and the gunnies record they won will be remembered by all Konkani generations. Keep it up Mandd Sobhann.

    At least you do not want to build Ek Lipi, Ek Bhas and Ek Samaz and make our Asmitay (identity) Satyanas. A small sect of Konkani group wants to promote only their lipi, their boli for Konkani and want to go awards to only their people and they have manupulated a lot and SHOUTING OUT that theirs is the official script.

    For these people the growth of Konkani is of least importance. But in such struggle there is no thrill. Such awards do not carry recognistion atleast after sometime. But I appreciate your work to unite all Konkani people respecting their diversity, culture, script, dialect and getting all of them under one banner. Keep it up Mandd Sobhann.

    I am proud that Mangloreans have taken the initiative to place Konkani at the global level on behalf of all Konkan States. All the Best!
