Puttur: College student asked to deliver milk at society ends life

Puttur, Jun 14: Tajakumari (18), daughter of Monappa Gowda, resident of Kuchchar House in Bajathur village in the taluk killed herself. It is said that she was hurt by the instructions given to her by the family to deliver milk at the local milk producers’ society before going to her college.

Tejakumari was a first year degree student of the government first grade college at Uppinangady which she had recently joined. She committed suicide by hanging herself on Thursday June 13. On Thursday, the family members had asked her to deliver milk to the milk producers’ society at Periadka before going to her college. She had initially refused but the family members had forced her to visit the dairy with milk, it is said.

When returning from the dairy, the girl used her veil to hang herself from a cashew tree on the way, a complaint filed with the police here states. The police, who have registered a case, are investigating.
