Sullia, Jun 17: Keshavamurthy, who was officiating as the sub-registrar here, has been transferred and sent on compulsory leave.

Keshavamurthy, second division assistant in the office of the sub-registrar at Bantwal, had been deputed to the sub-registrar's office here to officiate as sub-registrar. There were complaints that he was collecting bribe from the people and had also insisted on payment of bribe from a soldier. A video of bribe being accepted had been shared on social media and covered by visual media.

MLA Angara, MLC Ivan D'Souza and other people's representatives and social service organizations had demanded for action against him. The senior officials have ordered Keshavamurthy to go back to his original office at Bantwal from where he has been ordered to go on compulsory leave.

In the meanwhile, it is learnt that Anti-Corruption Bureau would be registering case against him.
