Bantwal: Bike rider, pillion suffer serious injuries after collision with pick-up truck

Bantwal, Jun 24: In an incident that occurred on Sunday, June 23 on Peruvai bridge near here bike rider and pillion got seriously injured when they were hit by a pick-up truck, which lost its control.

Krishnappa Poojary (38), a resident of Peruvai and rider of the bike and Kudtamugeru government school teacher Ashok (32), a resident of Mambadi are the ones who are seriously injured in the accident. Both the injured were given first aid at Vittal hospital and taken to Mangaluru for further treatment.

The pick-up truck that was going from Peruvai junction to Manila lost its control on the downward slope and hit the bike that was coming from the opposite direction. Bike got thrown to the drain on the side of the road because of the impact of the collision. The pick-up went further and hit the pole of the bridge. The front tyre of the pick-up got burst and the front portion is completely damaged.



Ashok, who is injured in the accident, had come to his in-laws' house in Peruvai and was going towards the market along with the bike rider Krishnappa when the accident occurred.

A case in this connection stands registered at Bantwal police station.
