Bengaluru, Jun 24: In view of making migrated Konkani Catholic youths united, a programme ‘You Connect’, under the banner of ICYM and FKCA at St Joseph’s Indian High School, was held on Sunday, June 23. The programme was aimed to make each other known to others. It also makes sure to guide the migrated youths from the different parts of coastal Karnataka.

Msgr Maxim Noronha, vicar general of Mangaluru diocese who inaugurated the event delivering his inaugural address said, “Youth are an essence of this society and there is a need to build our society around youth.”

FKCA chairman Dr Edward Dsouza in his speech shared about the good work done by FKCA in Bengaluru and how it has helped towards Konkani Catholic Community and proposed the plan of forming a youth wing from this year to address the needs of the migrated youth in Bengaluru.

Fr Jerome Stanislaus Dsouza SJ, provincial, Karnataka Jesuit Province speaking at the event called on youth and said, “Youngsters to make use of the talents and adapt to bengaluru life and try to acquire knowledge in every possible way.”

Fr Lourdu Raj, regional director of ICYM Karnataka region in his speech to stay connected with each other.

Youth icon Seema Buthello, film actress shared her experience and struggles being in Bengaluru and motivated all youth not to lose hope in any situation.

Fr Faustine Lobo, coordinator, Pastoral Commission Karnataka region, in his key note address expressed the problems and challenges of migrated youth in Bengaluru.

Programme continued with panel discussion, holy Eucharistic Mass celebrated by Dr Bernard Moras, Archbishop Emeritus, Bengaluru.

Fr Leo Pereira SJ, rector, St Joseph’s Indian Institutions was present on the dais. Jaison Pereira, ICYM president, Mangaluru diocese welcomed the gathering and Fr Ronald Dsouza, ICYM Mangaluru, rendered the vote of thanks. Rayan Miranda compered the programme.
