Mangaluru, Jun 29: MP Nalin Kumar Kateel has blamed the state government, alleging that it was because of its failure, cattle trafficking has increased in the district.

Addressing a press meet at district BJP office on Saturday, June 29, Kateel said whatever developments was done by the BJP, the same was undone by the Congress. “The BJP had brought about strict laws to control cattle trafficking. However, Congress relaxed the law and order brought by the BJP and hence paved a leeway for illegal cattle traffickers. This will lead to disharmony and violence in the district,” he said.

He also lashed out at the state government for failing to protect the cattle. Putting forth demands, Kateel stated that illegal slaughterhouses need to be shut in the district and CCTV cameras need to be installed in key places of the district.

He also said that the slaughterhouse in Kudroli which has licence should be shifted to the outskirts of the city and added that if BJP wins in the Mangaluru City Corporation (MCC), it will be one of the first works it will take-up.

Those who lose their cattle to traffickers need to be compensated and the government should fix an amount up to Rs 1 lac. Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) needs to be formed to ensure laws are implemented and cows are protected, he said.

To avoid inter-state cattle trafficking, there is a need set-up special check posts in all border areas of Kerala and Karnataka, Kateel stressed.

Mangaluru South MLA D Vedavyas Kamath, Puttur MLA Sanjeev Matandoor, BJP district general secretary Capt Brijesh Chowta among others were present.

No jobs, murders in broad daylight, cheating and looting innocent, accidents where young and old are dying on our roads , no water, business at loss , suicides , oh wow lots of problems we are facing in our kudla. Can you just leave to Delhi and speak on our behalf? Just leave nalin Kateel .

Cow slaughter is not illegal. There are relevant laws that enable it.
Stealing cows and trafficking is illegal and MUST BE ILLEGAL. Why do those whose transporting cows in small vehicles, jeeps (every often stolen too) not surrender to the police station and come forward about how legal it is. Why is that they run away leaving behind the vehicle and the cattle?
As an MP, Nalin Kateel should take this issue raging in his constituency head-on before it drives a serious wedge in the society.
How about those who are writing ridiculous comments here, who are insensitive to the feelings (of being robbed) of many propose a solution to this problem.
How about importing Halal beef and propose to State, Central Government to have zero duty on the same? Buy it across the counter and once for all solve this problem.
Or does it always have to be stolen meat to derive best pleasure?

    Dear Abdul Rauf from Mangalore,
BJP is in the opposition in the state and hence the sound bytes from Kateel and Shobakka are like that.
UT is enjoying the pleasure of being in the ruling side headed by Kumaranna. He will speak nice things only. It is Kumaranna who is getting agitated.

Dear Nalin sir, While talking about cows and cattle please don't forget peoples of Mangalore. Peoples are tired of all these things. For cows you can do whatever you feel better, bcoz cows they don't what is good for them. Bring some good projects, generate employment in Mangalore and try to increase gross salary of people which very less when compare to other cities.

Even the smallest rat is a king in its own territory. People have chosen you and sent you out to perform at the capital. Speak up, gentleman, open your mouth at the House, and question why India is a top exporter of Beef. Mangalore is a small well - frogs thinking it as an ocean explains their knowledge.

Dear Mr Kateel, Other than cows we have 10 lakh plus people in DK. we need water and other basic necessity. No jobs in Mangalore. Graduates and even post graduates citizens are now delivering food thanks to food delivery apps. What have you done to create jobs. Real estate is all time low. Business is all time low. Just walk to any markets or malls.

The MP is bothered more about cows than human beings. There is an acute price rise of food items and vegetable in the market. All businesses are down. The economy has become a damp squib. People have no money to invest. Hence markets at reeling under recession. Still making any issue out of non-issue.
