Bengaluru, Jun 30: As many as 53 people were arrested by Central Crime Branch (CCB) police from a bar in Domlur in the city, which included two managers and a cashier. 74 women, who were said to be forced to dance in the bar, were rescued by the cops.

The CCB police raided the mentioned bar on Friday, June 28. They confiscated Rs 1.04 lac cash from the bar. It is said that the 74 women, who were rescued in the operation, were not formal employees of the bar. It is alleged that these women were used to entertain the customers who visited the bar.

The customers of the bar had the liberty of showering the currency notes on the women and were even allowed to dance with them for payment of more cash, as per the information shared by a senior police officer.

This operation was a part of a drive that is initiated by police commissioner Alok Kumar to clear the city of restaurants and pubs that flout the law. The focus is mainly on illegal activities like gambling, dance bars and illegal chit funds. 

It is alleged that among the women some were locals and others from outside states. They were lured with the promise of decent jobs and then made to dance in order to entertain the customers of the bar and pull more business. 

The main accused arrested are identified as Dinesh P (42), Dinesh Kumar (41), Riyazuddin (52), Prakash Dutt Joshi (23) and Hegya Raj Joshi (23). 

266 women were rescued in the early June from a dance bar in the city which was going against the law. During that raid 244 people were arrested, which included 200 customers and 44 employees of the bar.
