BJP Demands Re-introduction of Ballot Paper

Bhubaneshwar, May 20: Dealt a humiliating defeat in the recently-concluded assembly and Lok Sabha polls in Orissa, BJP today blamed the electronic voting machines (EVM) for the debacle and sought re-introduction of ballot paper system of voting.

"Since the United States and many countries have stopped use of EVMs in elections, we should stop the practice in India too," BJP state president Suresh Pujari said after a brain storming session on the party's debacle.

Raising serious doubts about the accuracy of the EVMs, he said ballot papers are "more accurate and authentic."

This apart, ballot papers could be kept for record while it was not possible with EVMs, he said.

Pujari was supported by the party's senior leaders, including B B Harichandan who lost his security deposit in Bhubaneswar-Central seat.

BJP bagged only six seats in the 147-member Orissa assembly and failed to win any of the 21 LS seats in the state.

In 2004 it had secured 32 seats in the assembly and seven LS seats.

Mr. Nagesh Nayak, until now no one has proved forcible conversion in a court of law or anywhere else. You accept defeat gracefully please. The whole world knows about the harm done to Christians in Orissa by Sang Parivar activists. We do not need any explanation from you. BJP has lost badly and they have to change their mind-set. Even the former BJP ally BJD has broken all relationship with it in Orissa and won.

If ballot paper introduced this time, definitely congress would have won more than 350 seats. . Stop attacking churches and pubs. I swear... you will win next time. Voting machines have got nothing to do with this. At least learn lesson from this election

Dear Mr. Nagesh Nayak, Your Comment on Forcible conversions is applicable to VHP, BJD, RSS, and recently mushroomed sena-bina''s. So Comment Sensibly. You are beaten by the commentators like anything still you refuse to budge. Winning S.K, Udupi and Karnataka only will not fetch results for ruling the country. Projecting Ram Mandir, Mr. Modi, Mr. Advani and Hindutva are the main causes for the debacle of bjp''s loss in the country.

When I brought the inaccuracy, doubtful credibility & incorrectness of EVM in this forum after reading news paper, some fools thought me one amongst them and made personal attacks with out verifying the facts. Everyone has right to say what he feels right. As a believer in democracy I have accepted the results in right earnest. However the results in Karntaka has ruffled the feather of people like Mr.Jude dubai,he is hurt and unable to digest the win of BJP in karnataka.

First of all you donot vote, if vote it doesnot make any diffence to the out come of the even Municipal elections, but you still crib for loss of congress in karnataka and making wild allegations. If congress has won, its only becuase of Hindus who voted as per thier conscience not on religious lines like you ppl do. slavery is your blood first with british then with portuguese. you need complete boy as you donot comprehend this in this life time.

HI DONFRANK, COMMENT WITH SENSE. FORCIBLE CONVERSION IS THE ROOT CAUSE FOR ATTACKS ON CHURCH. GO THRU THE WITNESSES REMARKS CAREFULLY . RIGGING OF EVM''S ARE EASIER. BALLOT PAPERS ARE THE BEST SOLUTION. ELECTION COMMISSION WAS READY WITH THE BALLOT PAPERS IN CASE OF FAILURE OF EVM.

EVERYONE KNOWS NAVEEN CHAWLA''S BACKGROUND. BJP RIGHTLY SAID THAT BALLOT PAPERS SHOULD BE INTRODUCED FOR FAIR POLLING. JAI HO BJP.

No one wants to accept defeat. The loser is always trying to find some excuse. BJP in Orissa has lost very badly and instead of accepting defeat they find fault with EVMs! The large scale attacks on Christians in Orissa (instigated by the Sang Parivar) has dealt a severe blow to BJP during the elections, both to Lok Sabha and State Assembly.

Congress has lost in Karnataka due to various reasons, but none of the Congress leaders blamed the EVMs. Every one has to accept the verdict of the people! We are living in the 21st Century and India''s elections are hailed by the international community throughout the world. We have to congratulate the Election Commission in holding these elections in a free and fair manner. Jai Ho India.
