Obama Respects "wise leader" Manmohan Singh May visit India Soon


Washington, May 21 (IANS) : President Barack Obama considers Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh a "very wise leader" whom he respects and is looking forward to visiting India soon.

Obama conveyed these sentiments to the new Indian ambassador to the US, Meera Shankar, as she presented her credentials at a ceremony at the White House Wednesday.   

The president conveyed his felicitations on the just concluded parliamentary elections and commented that Manmohan Singh was a very wise leader whom he respects and he was looking forward to visiting India at an early date.   

Shankar conveyed greetings from President Pratibha Patil and Manmohan Singh to Obama and first lady Michelle Obama and said she was looking forward to strengthen the strategic partnership between India and the United States.
