My First Job to Strengthen Party: Rahul Gandhi

New Delhi, May 22 (IANS) : As the buzz about whether he would become a minister intensified Friday, Rahul Gandhi categorically said his first job was to strengthen the Congress party.

“Elections come and go. My job is to strengthen the party,” the Congress general secretary told IANS soon after the first lot of cabinet ministers in the new government took oath at Rashtrapati Bhavan.   

He, however, refused to answer any question on whether he is taking over as minister.   

“I am happy that youngsters have done well,” he said when asked what his role in the new government would be.   

Rahul Gandhi attended the ceremony, sitting along with his sister Priyanka Gandhi and her husband Robert Vadra.

    The contrubutions of the Nehru/Gandhi family are really commendable. Whenever our country was on the brink of destruction we were saved by their intervention even at the cost of their lives. Indira Gandhi fought civil unrest and laid down her life, Rajiv Gandhi fought the Corrupt beaurucracy and was killed for it. They have made great sacrifices which we cannot forget. Sonia Gandhi by her self-sacrifice was able to put a honest and capable person as the Prime Minister and that's why India today still shines. Rahul Gandhi has fought off the forces of un-secularism and again saved the country from destruction. These are good, just and fair people with no fundamentailism in their politics to gain votes but with the principles of Equality, Justice and Development of the country as their prime objective. We ask God to bless and protect them always for the good of the people and the country as a whole. We will remain a more united nation with such people at the helm and also other nations will have more faith and trust in our policies.

    Well spoken Rahul Gandhi, you are not after self power but to give right power to others to run the country. Need of the hour is to frame strong foundation for Congress which can  lead the country from hassles and troubles from alliance force. Bring more young generation to work hard without corruption then we will be able see the NEW STRONGER INDIA to compete with the World. God bless newly elected candidates to the parliament.
