Mangaluru: Speeding car causes death of lady - Daughter survives with injuries

Mangaluru, Jul 6: After a car hit a lady and her daughter when they were crossing national highway 66 near Kapikad Ambika Road at Thokkottu in the taluk in the city outskirts on Friday July 5, the lady lost her life. Her daughter suffered minor injuries.

The deceased happened to be Chandi Bibi (54), residing in a rented home at Kotekar, and the injured girl is he daughter Nageena (32).

Both Chand Bibi and her daughter work as domestic servants for a family at Ambika Road. On Friday morning, they got down from a bus and were crossing the highway to reach their workplace when a car that was speeding towards Mangaluru from the direction of Talapady hit them and sped away.

The locals immediately arranged to admit both of them into a private hospital here. Chand Bibi failed to respond to treatments and breathed her last sometime later. Nageena is recovering from minor injuries she suffered in the accident. The police said they have identified the car which had caused the accident.
