Kundapur, Jul 6: Senseless hitting of a higher primary school boy at Beejadi Padu village near here on Friday July 5 has angered the villagers. On Friday evening, they gave vent to their resentment by holding protest.

Vighnesh, a fifth standard student of the said school, was shedding tears after reaching home in the evening. His mother found that the skin of his back had turned red and the skin looked ready to peel off anytime. The parents took him to a private hospital at Koteshwar.

The boy stated that a teacher of his school had hit him with a ruler. The boy's parents and citizens have condemned this incident. Mother of the boy, Shobha, said that her family is poor and ekes out a living by working as coolies. The fact that the physical education teacher of the school had beaten her son black and blue at 10 am came to her attention after she finished the day's work and returned home in the evening, she revealed. She expressed a sense of agony at the sight of welt-like formations on the back of her son created on account of inhuman strokes inflicted by the teacher.

A citizen, Annappa Bettinamane, said that the violent act of the teacher had left blood clots on the boy's back. He demanded strong action against the guilty teacher. Chatrabettu school development and monitoring committee president Shekhar who regretted about the incident said that the issue would be taken up with the concerned and assured that the boy and his parents will get justice.
