Mysuru: Veteran theater personality K Muddukrishna and wife killed in accident

Mysuru, Jul 9: Veteran theater personality from here, K Muddukrishna (68), and his wife, Indrani (59), who was a scientist with Central Food Technological Research Institute here, lost their lives in an accident which happened near Lucknow on Sunday.

The husband - wife duo, residents of Ramakrishna Nagar here, had travelled to Lucknow four days back. On Sunday afternoon, they had hired a taxi to go to Varanasi. After a bus hit their taxi, both of them suffered serious injuries. Indrani breathed her last when being taken to hospital. Muddukrishna had been admitted into a private hospital. He was showing signs of recovery when he got to know on Monday morning that his wife was no more. He suffered from heart attack, and passed away instantly.

Both the sons of the couple, Ananya and Alok, are married and have settled down in Sweden.

Muddukrishna, who was employed in a bank, had voluntarily retired about 15 years back. He was identified with 'Samudaya' theater group since 1983. He also worked as organizer of theater programmes in the city. He had served as the secretary of 'Samudaya' and member of Karnataka Nataka Academy. He was known for straight forward behaviour and talk, and is credited with conducting hundreds of simple marriages through 'Manava Mantapa'. He was also an avid birdwatcher and theater critic.
